Design Campaign for Cash Riders

The current space for cash payment within transit has been neglected, as fare collection has evolved to fit into an increasingly cashless society. As cashless systems advertise speed, efficiency, and convenience over other methods, negative feelings toward cash payment and its disadvantages have persisted, despite the fact that many current commuters pay with cash. This creates an unwelcome environment for cash paying users, where they feel undervalued and forgotten within the current design of fare collection.

Cash collection is often very confusing, with machines and boxes appearing at inconsistent locations throughout the transit system. Collection boxes only receive exact change and expect you to have previous knowledge of the fare and how to pay beforehand. Accessibility and clear direction is severely lacking.
